Strathclyde was formed by amalgamating the traditional Scottish counties of Ayrshire, Argyll, County of Bute, Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire. These were incorporated in their entirety with the exception of areas of Argyll north of the Sound of Mull, which went into Highland Region.

The regions formed in were the upper tier of a two tier local authority system. Most regions were divided into a number of district council areas, and Strathclyde was divided into no fewer than 19 districts, organised within 6 sub-regions, five of which were based on the county areas Strathclyde replaced.

We are proud to be a licensed outdoor activity centre and cater for water activities for both family fun and for the enthusiast.

We also offer a great valued '5 Activity Wristband' for both adults and children allowing for hours of fun on our pedalos, bumper boats, Canadian canoes, kayaks and speedboat trip. We cater for the following watersport activities at the park; rowing, sailing, kayaking, powerboat handling and windsurfing. Craft are available to hire, or you may bring your own if you prefer. We have our own watersports instructor who can provide his expertise in the necessary skills, all in accordance with the standards laid down by the sports' national governing bodies. Enquiries from anyone wishing to organise an event, charitable, commercial or private , will be met with helpful advice and co-operation from the park's knowledgeable and experienced staff or leisure professionals, with the full support of the resources of North Lanarkshire Council's Environmental Services.

The Waterfront Cafe at the park is situated on the first floor of our Watersports Centre overlooking Strathclyde Loch. At Strathclyde Country Park we have well appointed training conference and business meeting facilities situated in our Watersports Centre, comfortably accommodating up to 50 participants in a stimulating learning environment with stunning views over Strathclyde Loch.

Strathclyde Country Park is accessible by public transport and a bus stop is situated at the Motherwell entrance to the park. If making your way by train please alight at either Motherwell or Airbles Road stations from where you can either walk, take a bus or taxi to the park.

It is advised that timetable directions be sought before travelling. For patrons who are travelling to the park by car there are numerous car parks within the park with in excess of 3, spaces available.

We endeavour to ensure that Strathclyde Country Park is accessible to all of our visitors and have developed an access statement for both our park and Watersports Centre for those who may have accessibility issues to assist when planning your visit. Strathclyde Country Park offers; accessible toilets, changing place facilities, accessible bike hire, accessible boat rides, step free walking routes and ample seating throughout the park.
