I eat 32 oz of chobani daily. If I could find whole milk Fage I might be willing to spend the extra dollars on it.

Coach Levi. Tags: greek yogurt , probiotics , yogurt. I eat it almost exclusively. Definitely Greek Gods, seems to be only available at Kroger.
Waymon Wow, 32 oz in one day? I generally do 8 oz, sometimes 16 oz, and I thought that was a lot! Fage is pronounced exactly how it shows on the package. Not Fi-yay. Leave this field empty. Hi, I'm Coach Levi. Want to feel better, ride faster, and look great? Let's work together! Coach Levi is my favorite child and favorite cycling coach. Yoplait Greek Whips! Strike one was adding a slew of sweeteners to this yogurt—evaporated cane juice aka sugar , monk fruit extract, and stevia leaf extract—but then the nail in the coffin was the addition of water why?
Chobani claims to use whole milk in their formula, but if you take a closer look at the ingredient list, they describe the recipe as using nonfat milk not whole milk and cream. Which probably explains why the fat content of the resulting yogurt is 4 percent—a higher-than-average percentage for whole milk. Just watch out for eating too much fat in one sitting.
Although the probiotics will help balance your gut, studies have found that a diet high in saturated fat has been known to throw off your gut-mending efforts. Not only does fuller-fat dairy contain more nutrients, but those healthy fats will play a key role in helping your body absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Bonus: Maple Hill Greek yogurts are rich, creamy and taste way more decadent than they are considering their high protein content will help you lose 10 pounds.
Just make sure you side-step flavors like honey, which can pack a massive 29 grams of sugar into your morning meal.
Brown Cow Farms makes a great Greek yogurt because they keep things simple and basic. We love that Stonyfield recently introduced a full-fat version to their Greek line. Have tried both Fage and Chobani recently and much prefer the Fage. The fruit goop at the bottom of the Chobani is way too gelatinous and doesn't taste that good.
I end up leaving the fruit part, which seems a waste. I also think the Fage yogurt is creamier and tastes better. I believe the flavors make a huge difference in a taste test. I eat both and buy whatever is on sale. I have to say….. I am very impressed with your test and detail.
I do love chabon! I wish you would review everything I want to know more about: thank you. Anonymous — I wish, you have NO idea! Someone, hire me! I'll work on writing more reviews, but if you check out Friday's Favorite Things — I mention 3 favorite things of the week, many times it will include food. So glad you enjoyed this. Dannon greek is disgusting. My favorite is Fage, hands down, without a doubt… When you eat it without mixing it it's so much more rich and creamy.
I'm a steady Fage man, myself. It's light and has a whipped texture, with no funky aftertaste. I simply DON'T like it at all. Icepulse — Thanks for your input. Honestly, I keep going back and forth between Fage and Chobani, they are both really good. I performed the taste test on just the Blueberry yogurt, and perhaps I need to do more. I haven't tried Fage, but had brought a 4 pack of Oikos. It was so hard to finish… I just couldn't easily put it down and it was even the chocolate flavor.
I just tried Chobani Peach and it was very tasty. I'll have to compare it to Fage. Excellent review by the way. I was very impressed with all the information and wish all reviews were conducted with such detail! Anonymous — Fage is really good too, I think I have to do a more fair review with the same flavor comparison. Thanks for your kind words. It stems from Greek tradiotions tha go almost a hundred year back into production. Unfortunately Chobani is a turkish brand that tried to copy Fage and its "Straggisto" type, and it did succesfully because of their delivery and marketing network.
Yet it is not Greek, neither does it have something to do with the Greek Yoghurts. It merely a marketing fraud with Greek imprinted on it. Really a case for a law firm, but who knows that….
Coban is the turkish word and Tsobanis is the Greek. They used a mixture of them two.. My new, absolute favorite yogurt. I cleaned out the entire shelf at my local store. It is unlike anything else. Siggi's is a NY-based "micro-batch", so I don't know about availability, but Whole Foods is a franchise that carries it.
I found your test really interesting to read as I'm just starting to get more into greek yogurt. I have tried Chobani a few times and even though it might be the best, I still can't seem to get used to the taste of it. As for the vanilla flavor, I definitely choose Oikos over Chobani. I used to like Fage, but after trying Chobani, I like it better. Fage is a little too sour. I thought the low-fat diet fad was over with years ago. It doesn't help you lose weight. Thanks for sharing!!!!
I am just now starting to eat more healthy and was eating a Chobani yogurt and wanted to know if I was eating the best thing or if this was just a gimic. Based off your review, I am going to stick with Chobani because I really do think it is the best overall and it tastes great!!! I also really love Fage, they are both really good, but I think it depends on the flavor.
Thanks so much for your kind words. My favorite Greek yogurt is Trader Joe's plain Greek yogurt, full fat version.
I have tried the other brands, and I do not like all the extra added ingredients, especially the flavored ones, or the after taste. That gives me my favorite blueberry flavor, with no extra sugar or preservatives, and I get the thick and creamy flavor of my Greek yogurt.
It also tastes fresher. I use the full fat version because I have noticed a tang after taste from the fat free one. You should try this test taste with plain yogurt.
Fruit can make or break anything so tasting it in the buff is the best. I have no problem with the Oikos flavor natural and although it was not a winner, if its plain its ok but I tried the honey looking for one I tasted years ago and it was not good at all.
I tries adding fruit and it did not work either. I don't eat flavored yogurt as healthy choices quickly become sugar laden and therefore unhealthy. Of all of these in their plain variety Oikos is by far the best.
Plus 23g of protein, 9g of carbs, and 0g of fat in one cup. WF and the big brands has done a great job of giving everything on its shelves a "natural" feel when in fact there are many completely conventional items on those shelves; they simply meet WF's quality standards for excluding artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, etc. There is even a category for these items in the industry: "naturally perceived", how infuriating is that?
It's all marketing! Another good thing to look for is participation in the Non-GMO Project, which does ingredient testing to verify organic integrity all the way back to the source. End rant! Anonymous — I can't thank you enough for this valuable information.. I did not know that.. Thank you again!!! I'm actually eating the blueberry Oikos right now. I actually really like it, but i've never actually had the other two, so….
It's really good. I think I like Fage better than Chobani. Chobani doesn't keep their fruit separated from the yogurt and it makes the fruit taste like the yogurt. I think that the separate compartments for the fruit and yogurt is the reason that Fage tastes so much sweeter than Chobani.
Thanks for taking the time to produce and share this review! Great information, especially liked that you did additional research in contacting the company direct and had an age breakdown as well.
I just recently started on this GREEK yogurt kick, prior to this I only ate yoplait, mostly because of the insane amount of flavor choices. I must say though the greek stuff is simply awesome and agree that Chobani is by far the best!
Chobani is sooooo freakin' creamy and fruit taste is so true to the fruit. Thanks again for sharing your review, very informative! I like the regular version. The lowfat tastes bitter to me. Anonymous — I do love Fage, don't get me wrong, this was a taste test and most people preferred Chobani. I still eat Fage quite a bit. Chobani has made a chocolate yogurt! I tried a sample of it at a Nationsl Dietetics conference, and it was excellent.
I thought it was nicely done, not too sweet and had a very nice natural chocolate flavor. Sadly though, I have never been able to find it on the shelf anywhere. Their plain yogurt is the best.
I've tried to substitue Chobani's Non-Fat plain yogurt for Fage's and it doesn't taste the same. It's not creamy enough and seems like it needs to be strained more.
Oikos is even worse. But this was non the less a great review. I need to try the Choboni and Fage. Anonymous — I'll definitely give Dannon Oikos a try.
I eat dannon Oikos, which is not organic and I think it tastes the best. More like regular yogurt with the benefit of more protein. Fage seriously tastes like a container of bacteria to me, very tangy. And chobani is good but still a bit too tangy. I think I'm not cut out for the taste of "authentic" greek yogurt, but Dannon Oikos is a good middle point for people who don't love the taste of it.
In order to do a correct taste test, you need to learn how to eat Greek yogurt properly…. You are never supposed to mix is up. This I why Fage is found separate from the fruit. You're supposed to spoon some yogurt and fruit at the same time and eat it. With fruit on the bottom versions, you're supposed to spoon some yogurt from the top and fruit from the bottom.
Mixing it completely dilutes the flavor and taste and makes for a bland yogurt. Fage is the closest thing you will ever get to real Greek yogurt in the US. Try the cherry.
